Biowood Architectural Composite Decking, due to its content of wood fibre, contains all the attributes of timber such as its appearance, hardness and warmth underfoot but does not have the inherent shortcomings of solid timber such as crackling, splitting and rot.

In addition, when subject to fire, Biowood’s Architectural Composite Decking, unlike timber and other composites, is non-combustible & self extinguishing. Biowood Architectural Composite Wood Decking is superior in water resistance and is multi-functional with applications ranging from façades to ceilings and screening in residential and commercial environments.

How Durable Is Biowood Architectural Composite Decking?

Biowood Architectural Composite Decking is water and termite resistant, and does not promote the growth of mould and mildew. Stains and Scratches are easily dealt with (See our maintenance guide). UV inhibitors are added during the manufacturing process to ensure minimum colour fading and extend the life of the decking product.

How difficult is Biowood Architectural Composite Decking to install? Does it require a coating?

Biowood Architectural Composite Decking is a simple and cost effective solution to lay, when installed in accordance with the installation guide (available in hard copy by contacting us or by downloading the PDF here).

Standard wood-working tools can be used to drill, rout, sand and rip Biowood Architectural Composite Decking to create the perfect deck. Waste is kept to a minimum with decking supplied in 5.4 or 5.85 metre lengths. Concealable connectors are used to provide a blemish-free finish, avoiding further maintenance and safety problems.

Our decking is supplied uncoated, however once installed we recommend applying at least two coats of a water-based UV stabilised coating for marine and surrounding pool applications. During installation, Biowood promotes good safety procedures by ensuring adequate ventilation when machining our products to avoid inhaling dust.

Biowood Architectural Composite Decking is designed to be installed with a maximum joist span of 450mm in residential applications and 400mm in commercial applications. It is important to acknowledge that Biowood Architectural Composite Decking is not for use as structural members of a deck.
